The Lomography Berlin 400 is an ISO 400 black and white negative film. Described as a callback to 20th Century German cinema, this film has a gritty look with classic grain and a softer contrast that stretches out the tonality. Berlin 400 has an understated, almost drab, look to it that can perform quite well in certain scenarios. It does a great job of handling high contrast lighting without blowing out highlights or blocking up shadows. It also can take soft scenes, such as foggy mornings, and render them quite faithfully. All the while, Berlin 400 delivers a classic look and feel.
This film is either based on ORWO N74 or simply a repackaged batch of the same film. Developing times and processes for ORWO N74 seem to work quite well with Berlin 400.
