Candido 800 is the fastest in Candido Collective's trio of color negative films. This film is adapted from Kodak Vision3 500T motion picture film - a color negative emulsion that is tungsten balanced for use under incandescent lighting. Due to its tungsten color balance, this film has a naturally blue, cold color cast designed to compensate for the warm color temperature of incandescent or tungsten lighting, or other lighting around 3200K. Unlike Vision3 film, Candido 800 has had its remjet layer removed for better compatibility with photo lab C-41 processing machines. This allows Candido 800 to be available to a wider audience of still film photographers. It also gives the film a distinct halation effect that produces red halos around highlights.
Candido 800 shares the defining qualities of Kodak Vision3 films: fine grain, soft contrast and a more natural color saturation. This makes Candido 800 quite versatile in terms of its potential applications, be they portraiture, landscapes, cityscapes, product photography, still life or what have you. The film is great latitude and is quite forgiving of over exposure. Nominally an ISO 500 film, Candido 800 is rated at ISO 800 for a bit of extra speed without the need to compensate development. This does give it a bit less forgiveness for under exposure.
