The Petri 35 is a basic 35mm rangefinder camera, produced in Japan by Kuribayashi. The first model was introduced in 1954 and had a production run lasting until 1958. It is a simple, all-mechanical, fixed-lens camera that has a combined rangefinder and viewfinder. Over its production run, there were three variations made on the camera. The original model, the Petri 35, was introduced in 1954 and features an Orikkor 45mm f/3.5 or f/2.8 lens in a Carperu shutter with a top speed of 1/200th. The shutter on this model needs to be armed independently of the film advance. The Petri 35X, introduced in 1955, has a newer Carperu shutter capable of a top speed of 1/300th. The shutter on this model is armed with film advance and has an X-sync for flash. The Petri 35MX, introduced in 1955 with a production run of three years, is essentially the same as the Petri 35X, but with an M-X switch for changing flash sync.
