This precious little camera is the ULCA, a member of the HIT family of subminiatures cameras. It appeared throughout the world under a variety of names but in the US it was marketed under the ULCA name by the ULCA Camera Corp of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With a body made of die-cast zinc, the ULCA feels much more substantial than your typical HIT camera.
HIT cameras were generally novelty cameras: having simple, meniscus lenses and primitive shutter mechanisms. They used a tiny roll film, and in the case of the ULCA, produced 20x20mm images.
Annie, our national manager here at the shop, was awfully tempted by this one. It is almost too cute to pass up. Unfortunately for the ULCA, her interests got snagged by a Zero Image pinhole so this little guy is out on our shelves for sale. You know, in case you have a tiny open space on your camera collection shelves.
