We all know about the Pentax K1000, but what about the Pentax K?
Released in 1958, the Pentax K was the first Pentax SLR to feature a 1/1000 top speed and introduced a new range of M42 “Auto-Takumar” lenses with auto aperture stop-down (though the aperture had to be manually re-opened after the exposure had been made). Unlike the later Spotmatic cameras, the Pentax K still has a slow speed dial on the front plate, but other than this difference the camera strongly resembled the Spotmatic models that would soon follow.
