The Yashica-A was released in 1959 and produced for the subsequent ten years until it was discontinued in 1969.
This is a basic twin lens camera with few bells and whistles. The camera is fitted with matching Yashikor 80mm f/3.5 lenses and has a Copal leaf shutter allowing for flash sync at any shutter speed. The film advance is entirely manual and requires the use of the red window on the back of the camera for lining up frame numbers.
This camera provides a great inexpensive option for someone interested in medium format photography.

Yashica A
A little while ago, we had this rather rough looking Yashica-A come in for consignment. It was pretty worn in and our staff member, Arthur, noticed that a previous owner had glued an old Deutschmark to cap the focusing knob. Arthur was so taken by this little idiosyncrasy that he bought the camera and handed it over to our repair tech to get serviced; a full CLA and even a flashy new leatherette. When the camera came back, Arthur happened to be wearing a red tie, we thought this looked particularly festive with his new green camera, so we had to make an image to share with you.⠀
