Fuji Instax Mini color film was introduced in 1998, as the first of Fuji's Instax line of film and cameras. It kicked off a revolution of instant film photography and remains an incredibly popular film to this day. As of 2020, it is part of a family that includes three different formats: Mini, Wide and Square.
Fuji Instax Mini is an ISO 800, color instant film that produces business card-sized images that develop on their own, after ejecting from the camera immediately after exposure occurs. Image size of Mini film measures 46mm x 62mm with a white border, bringing the film size out to 54mm x 86mm. The cameras themselves are compact and simple to use, essentially point-and-shoot style. Some Instax Mini cameras give greater creative control, including multiple exposures and bulb mode.
Unlike Polaroid Originals film, Instax film does not contain the battery
needed to power the camera in the film packs. This makes the
manufacture of the film less expensive and allows Fuji Instax film to
enjoy a significantly lower cost than its Polaroid counterparts.
There is a wide variety of themed Instax Mini film available that feature colored and printed borders with various patterns and designs. Likewise, the cameras can also be purchased in an array of colors. In 2016, Fuji released a monochrome version of the Instax Mini film.
