The Kalimar Six Sixty is a medium format SLR camera that began its life in Japan, as a Fujita 66, and was later rebranded with the Kalimar name and imported into the U.S by Kalimar Inc. It is considered a budget level medium format SLR, meant as a low cost alternative to the Hasselblad or Exakta 66 cameras.
The Six Sixty was actually an update on the earlier Kalimar Reflex camera. Like the previous model, the Six Sixty has an instant return mirror, which was quite an achievement for its era - not even Hasselblads had this feature. It also expanded the shutter speed range to as slow as 1/5th of a second up to a fastest speed of 1/500th. The camera features a cloth focal plane shutter and an interchangeable lens mount. While the lenses can be tough to find, the system has a range from 52mm ultra wide angle up to 300mm telephoto.
