The Alt View 4x10 is a wooden, large format camera designed and built by the late Patrick Alt. It had an extremely limited production run of only 26 cameras and are, therefore, extraordinarily rare. Weighing in at less than five pounds, the Alt View features a lightweight and rigid design - this camera does not fold up! It can accommodate focal lengths ranging from 90mm to 300mm and it has limited front movements, including rise and tilt. The body of the camera itself is built from two types of wood: Australian lace and African wenge.

Apparently, that is this Alt View 4x10 camera. Built by Patrick Alt, a well known large format photographer and restorer of banquet cameras, his Alt View camera is a wooden beauty of a large format panoramic camera. According to an interview he gave before his death in 2013, he procured parts for a total run of 26 of these cameras; made from a combination of Australian lace wood and African wenge wood. The camera is lightweight, as you would expect, and has some movements but, strangely enough, it doesn't collapse like other field cameras, so it is not as compact as your typical 4x5 or even 8x10 camera would be. ⠀

This is quite the kit though, including a Fuji 250mm f/6.7 lens, as well as twelve 4x10 film holders (not cheap things to find on their own) and nine boxes of 4x10 film (Ilford FP4 and Bergger Pancro). Cost is not always an easy thing to determine with a camera as scarce as this, but we had this kit out for sale for $2500.⠀
