The Rollei QZ 35T is a very interesting camera. It is a high-end 35mm point-and-shoot, but it is also so much more. First off, the camera was designed by F.A. Porsche and looks the part. Second, it was design to be a combination of both form and function.
The body is titanium, making it very rugged. It houses a Rollei HFT 38-90mm lens (the QZ 35W version had a 28-60mm lens) and this is truly an excellent lens. The camera was intended to be used in automatic mode but exposure may also be set via shutter priority, aperture priority, or even fully manually. The camera has a shutter speed dial on top that is normally recessed and flush with the top of the camera, but pressing down on it causes it to pop up for rotation and manual adjustment.
See, it is nifty features like that that really get us excited about film cameras. The camera's lens cap even has a remote trigger built into it, but good luck finding one - they tended to be the first thing lost in the field.
All in all, if you are looking for a unique and high-performing 35mm with mild zoom capabilities, this is the camera.

Rollei QZ 35T
To be honest, we haven't made up our minds about this Rollei QZ 35T. We imagine we have followers with much more experience on this camera than we do, but we do have a bit of info for you. The camera was designed by F.A. Porsche and it certainly looks and feels the part. It is sleek yet solid.
Designed to be an auto-focus, point-and-shoot camera, it also allows a shutter and aperture priority mode, as well as full manual. One tidbit we were surprised by, the shutter tops out at an 1/8000th of a second. Impressive indeed. The lens cap is also the remote release, but it seems to be begging to be lost. Lens caps are understood to be disposable (in that, many of us will witness their coming and going), this one is definitely not disposable, be sure to keep track of it.
In our experience, Rolleis of this vintage are tough to service due to a lack of shops with experience or available parts. If you are a fan of the Contax G system, this camera seems like it would be up your alley, or if you enjoy cameras that win on style points.

Rollei QZ 35T
To be honest, we have mixed feelings about this camera. It is true that it is one of the most elegantly designed cameras we have laid hands on, at least in terms of aesthetics. The camera feels really solid, in terms of its manufacture, and its lens has a stellar reputation. That being said, the camera's functions do take some getting used to and it definitely does have its share of idiosyncrasies. It is a camera not for the casual user, but someone dedicated to using it a lot, learning its ins and outs, curves and lines. Quirks aside, it is one beautiful camera, is it not? ⠀
