Rollei Infared is a super-panchromatic black and white film
distributed by Maco in Germany. It is sensitive to the near-IR spectrum
of light out to 820nm, allowing it to be used to make infrared
photographs when paired with an appropriate filter. It has a high speed
at ISO 400, fine grain, great detail, and good clarity. The film has
an anti-halation backing that both prevents the halo effect seen in some
films such as Kodak HIE, Efke IR820C Aura, and Cinestill 800T and 50D
films. This backing also allows for the film to be loaded in subdued
light, instead of total darkness. All in all, this is one of the best
choices on the market for doing black and white infrared photography.
