Not to be confused with the AF35, the A35F was Canon's last manual focus rangefinder. Introduced in 1978, the camera is entirely auto-exposure and comes complete with a built-in flash (but no hot shoe). The camera has a nice, contrasty 40mm f/2.8 lens, making it a very serviceable and inexpensive 35mm rangefinder for everyday use. In a certain sense, the A35F is much like the more common Canonet 28, just a little bigger and with flash.⠀ ⠀
One fateful year later after the introduction of the A35F, the aforementioned Sure Shot AF35 was released to market, stealing much of the spotlight from the manual focus rangefinder market; causing the A35F and many of its brethren, to slip into relative obscurity.⠀
Nonetheless, even all these years later, you can still pick up one of these cameras for excellent prices. They make great "carry everywhere" cameras and are a solid alternative to the other, more-expensive, fixed lens Canon rangefinders.⠀
