The Rolleiflex Automat, is an early Rolleiflex produced in Germany between 1939-1945. The Automat is an early example of a twin lens reflex (TLR) camera makes uses 120 film to produce twelve 6x6cm negatives per roll. The Automat introduced several new features over previous Rollei TLR cameras including wheels for adjusting shutter and aperture located between the two lenses, a film crank instead of a knob, and automatic frame counting. Depending on how you count, or the reference material you read, there are four variations of the Automat produced during the camera's production run.
Annie Buckles Gives The Rolleiflex Automat a Whirl
Our National Manager Annie Buckles recently decided to shoot with her first Rolleiflex TLR. She had used Yashica TLR cameras previously but had never had any experience with a Rolleiflex. We had this nice Automat model in stock so she took it home, loaded up with a roll of Ilford Delta 3200 for a weekend of photography.
