Produced by Graflex from 1952-1956, the Graflex 22 is a medium format TLR camera that produces 6x6cm frames using 120 film. After Graflex bought out the American camera manufacturer Ciro, they modified that company's Ciro-flex cameras and rebranded them the Graflex 22. As far as TLR cameras go, the Graflex 22 is pretty simple. A standard focal length lens is mounted in a leaf shutter with manual film advance done via lining up printed frame numbers in a red window on the back of the camera. Ciro had adopted a slightly longer focal length of 85mm on their cameras in order to produce sharper images corner to corner while using a cheaper triplet lens design. Graflex maintained this practice with the Graflex 22 cameras as well.
There were two major versions of the Graflex 22.
A Model 200 was produced between 1952-56 with an Optar or Graftar 85mm f3.5 lens mounted in a Century Synchromatic shutter.
The Model 400F was produced from 1952-54 and featured an 83mm f3.2 Optar lens mounted in a Graphex shutter.
