Nikon F3T
The Nikon F3T is a titanium-bodied variant of the F3, Nikon's professional 35mm SLR introduced in 1980. The champagne-colored titanium version was the original, introduced in 1982, and was discontinued in 1985 when only the all-black titanium version remained in production. That shorter production run makes the champagne version somewhat rarer than the black F3T. Functionally, the F3T is identical to the standard F3, with the titanium body offering reduced weight and improved durability relative to the standard aluminum chassis.
The F3 is capable of aperture-priority autoexposure with a center-weighted TTL metering system while also supporting full metered manual control. The titanium shutter is electronically controlled and is capable of speeds ranging from 8s up to 1/2000. When set to Aperture Priority the shutter operates in a stepless fashion with the camera capable of choosing any incremental speed needed for exact exposure. An in-viewfinder LCD displays selected shutter speed as well as aperture. The F3 is built with a modular design allowing interchangeability of both prism and film back door, as well as the attachment of motor drives. The camera has a number of other useful features such as depth of field preview, mirror lock up and a self-timer. While it is battery-dependent for most functions, the camera has a mechanical 1/60 shutter speed option in the event of battery failure.
The F3T accepts the full range of Nikon F-mount AI and AI-S lenses with full metering support. Non-AI lenses can be used with stop-down metering. AF, AF-D, and AF-S lenses mount and meter normally but will not autofocus, as the F3 body has no autofocus drive.
