Ashley likens her love of photography to a slippery slope: each new camera, process, or medium almost always leads to another. A photographer of people, Ashley in interested in the empowerment of her subjects using historical processes, namely wet plate collodion (also known as tintype photography.) While most of her work in recent years has been made with large format cameras, Ashley often returns to smaller mediums and instant films, and finds that her experience with fine art film photography informs her commercial portrait work (and vice-versa.) Ashley loves teaching, and is excited for the opportunity to share her passion for analog photography with the next generation of film photographers.
