The Hoya HMC 25A Red filter is an important filter in the field of black and white photography. Colored filters are used for both tonal separation as well as contrast control with black and white film. A red filter offers a significant increase in contrast while darkening blue and green tones toward black and lightening reds and oranges toward white. This can create dramatic landscapes and portraiture. Additionally the red 25A is a popular choice for use with infrared sensitive films to produce a modest infrared look while being easier to use than the typical R72 filter.
The 25A Red filter by Hoya is made with high quality glass that is multi-coated for reduced flaring and improved image quality. This filter has a 2.5 stop filter factor.
This filter has a 46mm thread size and is appropriate for lenses using a 46mm filter thread.
