This new bottle of "HC Developer" is Kodak's replacement for their classic HC-110 Developer.
Kodak HC-110 is a black and white film developer that is available in a highly concentrated liquid that can be diluted into several different mixing ratios for a wide variety of applications. HC-110 is one of the developers recommended in Ansel Adams' book The Negative and is popular with zone system users for its ability to be diluted into multiple mixes. HC-110 characteristics can vary greatly depending on the dilution used. It is typically categorized as having slightly fine to moderate grain (depending on dilution), reasonable shadow detail, varying acutance (higher acutance at more dilute mixes), easy mixing, low amounts of chemicals used giving it a lower environment impact, and having a good shelf life when left in concentrate. Additionally HC-110 is a great film for push processing and produces less fogging when used in this manner.
Some common films and development times for HC-110 include:
Kodak Tri-X (68° F) 7.5 minutes, Dilution B
Kodak TMax 100 (68° F) 7 minutes, Dilution B
Kodak TMax 400 (68° F) 6 minutes, Dilution B
Kodak TMax P3200 (68° F) 11.5 minutes, Dilution B
This is a 1 liter bottle of concentrated developer.
