Born from the love of photography and astronomy, Solarcan is a unique camera designed to produce extreme time exposures that capture the Sun's path across the sky, over weeks, months, or years.
Once installed at your chosen location, the Solarcan will dutifully expose the path of the Sun across the sky. You can let your can expose for as little as a week or two, but more spectacular results are achieved with exposure times of months and years. Upon completion of the exposure, the image will be present upon the paper inside the can when you open it up. Simply scan the exposed paper on a flatbed scanner or photograph it with a digital camera, invert it and behold!
This kit includes everything you need to get started. The Solarcan pinhole camera comes pre-loaded with Ilford photopaper and a precisely-drilled pinhole aperture. A pair of plastic zip ties are provided for attaching the Solarcan to wherever you want to mount it, they are even labeled with "Science Project - Do Not Touch". And the cardboard tube the camera comes in serves as a perfect, dark storage tube for after the exposure is complete.
Note: Solarcans come in a variety of colors, you will receive one of five available colors. Sorry, there is no way to guarantee a specific color camera.
