In Significance is the first full length photography book by Colton Allen, a film photographer from Talent, Oregon. Each book is signed by Colton.
"In Significance is about finding significance in the seemingly insignificant. It is about the way we view our surroundings, and how by changing our own perspective, that which we often overlook can become more meaningful. The photographs in this book were chosen from a collection made over nearly ten years and offer a glimpse of who Colton is as a person and photographer."
Colton was diagnosed with ALS in 2008 and became a passionate photographer. As the disease took his mobility and more and more of his motor functions, Colton focused his eye on the insignificant moments of the world he found around him. Heavily influenced by photographers like William Eggleston and Stephen Shore, Colton was a master of subtle plays of light, color, patterns and textures. He found great beauty in scenes many of us never notice. He carefully arranged this book from his collection of 35mm film photography and had plans for a sequel. He died from complications of ALS in 2022.
