The Blue Box is a fine art book of film photography. It is the debut collection from Portland, Oregon photographer Faulkner Short.
Here's what Eugene, Oregon photographer and critic Blake Andrews has to say about the book: "With most photographers, i can easily pick out traces of lineage or style. So-and-so leads to so-and-so lead to X photo. But Faulkner is suis generis, with no obvious roots or influences that i can detect. His photos appear from outer space."
In many ways, The Blue Box is a Portland, Oregon book. Mostly chosen from prints taken between 2000 and 2004, Andrews calls the collection "a portrait of [Faulkner's] home city and it's blackberried tangle of placards, Buicks, and dive bars...stocked with thrift stores and analog lovers."
As the book's title suggests, the majority of the images used here were taken from old prints Faulkner found in a blue box.
This book is published by Sand & Gravel Press.
These books are signed and numbered by Faulkner himself and we have a limited quantity available.
