The Underwood Master was first introduced in 1937 and enjoyed a production run throughout the 1940s. It joined a legacy of precision typewriters made for professional use by the legendary Underwood typewriter company. The Master is a sturdy and ultra-reliable machine designed for heavy use over many long years. As with previous Underwood models, the Master employs a front stroke mechanism for great visibility of what is being typed. Underwood machines are also known for excellent keyboard functionality. Touch control can be quickly adjusted via a slider on the front of the machine and it has a triple position ribbon that allows for red/black typing or for the use of correction paper (if you can find some of it). Famous writers known for using Underwood typewriters include Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Jack Kerouac. Beyond these celebrities, countless Underwood typewriters populated American business offices and helped them run carry out day-to-day workings for decades.
As with all of our writing machines, this typewriter has been refurbished by Ace Typewriter and is being sold with a fresh ribbon and a six month warranty.
