The Canon EOS Rebel T2 is a lightweight and inexpensive autofocus SLR camera that was targeted toward beginning to advanced amateur photographers. Despite its inexpensive nature, the Rebel T2 strives to pack in a lot of features. In general it offers the full complement of exposure modes including Manual, Aperture and Shutter Priority and full Program AE. It also offers scene-specific Program modes for situations such as fast action, landscapes, and portraiture. It featured an extremely fast autofocus system capable of predicting moving subjects, with continuous shooting up to 2.5 fps. The Rebel T2 has a 35-zone evaluative metering system that is surprisingly complex and highly accurate. It has a top shutter speed of 1/4000 and a flash sync of 1/125. The built-in flash is slightly more powerful than previous Rebel-series cameras with a GN of 13. Among its many other features (too many to list) the Rebel T2 introduces the ability to use custom functions.
Depending on the market, this camera was also known as the Kiss 7 or the EOS 300X.
