The Leica M7 is a 35mm rangefinder camera introduced by Leica in 2002 as the direct successor to the vaunted Leica M6. At first glance, the M7 is very similar to the M6, but features an electronically-controlled shutter that allows the camera to operate in an Aperture Priority auto exposure mode. It also allows the M7 to have timed shutter speeds as slow as 4 seconds, along with the standard Bulb mode. Additionally, in the event of battery failure the M7 is still capable of mechanical 1/60 and 1/125 shutter speeds. The M7 is capable of TTL flash exposure with compatible flash units. It generally has framelines for six focal lengths (arranged in three pairs): 28/90, 35/135, and 50/75. It also has DX code reading and exposure compensation.

This is an "a la carte" version of the Leica M7, produced with custom specifications by Leica.  It is very similar to the "Street Edition" in that it lacks the red Leica dot on the front of the camera and has the M3 advance lever and frameline selector switch.  Additionally it has Leica's "Pebble" leatherette, and an MP finder with only three framelines: 35, 50 and 90. It is also equipped with the earlier pin style DX Code reader.
