The Ricoh 500 is a manual focus, 35mm rangefinder camera first introduced by the Riken Optical Company in 1957. It is a solidly built camera with a coupled rangefinder. The lens barrel features a pair of quick focusing knobs that really make focusing the Ricoh 500 a treat. Another fine feature of the Ricoh 500 is the bottom-mounted rapid advance crank.
Riken produced two models of the Ricoh 500. This is the original 1957 version with the 4.5cm f2.8 Ricomat lens mounted in a Seikosha-MXL shutter and flat camera top plate.
