The Contax IIa is a 35mm rangefinder produced by Zeiss Ikon beginning in 1950. It is an excellent quality camera that features a coupled rangefinder combined with the viewfinder window. The Contax IIa has a unique, vertically-travelling focal plane shutter composed of metal blinds and has a top speed of 1/1250 of a second.
The Contax IIa uses the Contax Rangefinder lens mount. This mount is similar to the Nikon S-mount for its rangefinder cameras but has a slightly different flange distance.
