This Leica Leicaflex SL was the second SLR model produced by Leitz. Its major addition was a TTL light meter that had been lacking on the original Leicaflex. In fact, the SL gets its name from "Selective Light" in reference to the camera's built-in TTL light meter. Due to a need for greater compatibility with the light meter, Leitz modified the Leicaflex lens mount on its lenses to include a second cam. For full compatibility with the SL's metering, one needs to use 2-cam or later Leica R-mount lenses. Other changes found in the SL include an improved focusing screen that was significantly brighter than the previous model, and is still a bright screen even by modern standards. The SL also omitted a mirror lock-up mechanism in favor of a depth of field preview lever.
