This Carl Zeiss 50mm f4 Distagon is a wide angle lens made by Carl Zeiss and designed for the Hasselblad V system. Carl Zeiss has a reputation for manufacturing extremely sharp lenses and the 50mm Distagon is no exception. This is one of the most popular wide angle lenses for Hasselblad 500-series cameras. The 50mm focal length is roughly equivalent to a 25mm lens on full frame 35mm cameras, so it is ideal for landscapes, architecture, travel, group portraiture and a variety of other uses.
This is the earlier "C" version of this lens set in a Compur leaf shutter. Unlike many other Hasselblad lenses, the 50mm Distagon uses threaded Series VIII filters instead of bayonet-mount filters. A careful user can also use 67mm filters even though the thread pitch is not quite the same.
