The Benbo Model 1 tripod, made by English company Kennett Engineering LTD, is an interesting piece of tripod design. It is a heavy duty tripod capable of holding large cameras or lenses. It features 2-section legs with a max height of 48" (not counting center column or head heights). The Benbo No. 1 has a unique design in regard to its leg shoulders. Instead of the legs meeting at a central collar and leg angle being controlled independently, the legs of the Benbo No. 1 meet at a large universal joint that is tightened or loosened via a single twist lever. This action looses all legs (and the center column) together allowing rapid positioning of all legs simultaneously. The Benbo No. 1 also features an off-center center column (we know, weird terminology) that can be swung 90° to a horizontal position - or any angle in between. This tripod design allows for unconventional photography angles not often achievable with tripods, such as shooting straight up or straight down. The Benbo No. 1 is capable of getting almost flat to the ground allowing for very low angle photography. It can be a versatile tripod for macro photographers.
