The Rollei B35, or 35B, was produced between 1969 and 1978 as a budget model of the Rollei 35. The biggest difference between the 35B and original 35 is the replacement of the CdS light meter with a selenium cell meter in the 35B. These latter light meters were less expensive and helped reduce the overall cost of the 35B. The light meter is not coupled to shutter and aperture controls, therefore a reading must be made on top of the camera and then transferred manually to the controls on the front of the camera. Additionally, the controls for shutter and aperture were moved to new locations on the camera and more internal parts were made from plastic. Another difference between the original 35 and the 35B lies in the lenses; the original Tessar or S-Xenar lenses were replaced on this model with a Zeiss 40mm f/3.5 Triotar.
