This Minolta Maxxum 500si camera is an autofocus SLR camera that combines a variety of features that cater to both simple automatic use or more manual, creative control. The Maxxum 500si has several exposure modes including full Program auto exposure (with numerous scene-specific settings such as Landscape or Sports modes), Aperture and Shutter Priority modes and full Manual exposure control. The camera has a built-in, pop-up flash (GN 12) that includes an AF illuminator to assist autofocusing in dark conditions. The 500si uses motorized film advance and rewind and can fire continuously up to 1fps. The focal plane shutter can be set to speeds between 30s to 1/2000, with a flash sync speed of 1/90. The camera can accept DX-coded films of ISO 25-5000 with Non-DX coded films defaulting to the previously-used film speed. This camera requires one 2CR5 battery to function.
This camera was also known as the Minolta Dynax 500si Super in the European market and the α-303si Super in the Japanese market. Furthermore it was branded and sold as the Maxxum 530si RZ by Ritz Camera.
