The Nikon N50 is an autofocus 35mm SLR camera. It was designed to replace the Nikon 5005 and offers both simplicity and ease of use for beginning photographers alongside more advanced controls for users to engage with as their skills grow. The N50 can be used in a "Simple" mode that allows scene selection (general, landscape, portrait, macro) that caters its automatic settings for specific scenarios. An "Advanced" mode allows Program AE, Aperture and Shutter Priority, and a metered Manual (only with autofocus lenses). The AF system can be set between single shot, continuous predictive and manual focusing. Shutter speeds range from 30 seconds to 1/2000 as well as a T(ime) mode that replaces the standard Bulb mode but can be used more easily without a cable release. The camera's built-in motor drive provide automatic film advance and rewind. Other features include an electronic self-timer, DX coding with override and Exposure Compensation of +/- 5 EV.
