This Rollei Rolleiflex Automat (X-Sync) is a 6x6cm medium format twin lens reflex camera first released in October of 1949. The Automat X was the first Rollei TLR which incorporated X synchronization for flash. It also features bayonet mounts on both lenses for filters and a cable release socket located in the shutter button. The Automat X was sold with either a Zeiss Tessar or Schneider Xenar taking lens.
This has a 75mm f3.5 Zeiss-Opton Tessar lens.
This is an unusual Automat X specimen. It has a very early serial number in the 600,000 range which would normally identify it as an original Automat, but it has all the features of an Automat X. Additionally the word "unverkäuflich" is stamped inside the camera, which essentially means "not for sale" or "unsaleable". This leads us to believe it was a demonstration or dealer model and therefore may explain the out-of-sequence serial number.
