Released in 1965, the Canon 7s was the successor to the Canon 7 rangefinder camera and the last in Canon's 32 year history of producing 35mm rangefinder cameras. The 7s retained the basic features of the Canon 7 but added a CdS light meter and an accessory shoe atop the camera. The metal focal plane shutter of the Canon 7s is capable of speeds from 1s to 1/1000, plus a Bulb and Time mode. The combined rangefinder/viewfinder window has adjustable bright lines for framing 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 100mm and 135mm focal lengths. The camera has a mechanical self-timer. The Canon 7s uses the M39 lens mount but also has the external bayonet necessary for the 50mm f0.95 "Dream Lens".
