The Nikon N80 was introduced in 2000, one year after Nikon's first DSLR was brought to market, and was one of the last film SLR cameras made by Nikon. The N80 was targeted toward the advanced amateur photographer and sat between the N65 and N90 in terms of features and capabilities. The N80 is an autofocus SLR with a focal plane shutter capable of a top speed of 1/4000. The N80 also has a surprisingly sophisticated 3D Matrix Meter to go along with center weighted and spot metering modes. Exposure modes consist of the usual PSAM (Program auto exposure, Shutter priority, Aperture priority and metered Manual). ISO can be set via DX coding or manually overridden. Other useful features include a diopter adjustment on the viewfinder eyepiece, motorized film advance, built-in motor drive capable of 2.5fps, and backward compatibility with manual focus Nikon AI and AIS lenses (with some metering and exposure modes becoming unavailable). The Nikon N80 requires two CR123 batteries for power.
This camera was also known as the F80 in markets outside of North America.
