The rare earth elements of this lens showing significant yellowing. This will add a slight warm cast to color photography (kind of like using a skylight filter) but will have no impact on B&W photography. Additionally, this yellowing can be treated with UV light baths.

The Minolta 28mm f2.5 MC W.Rokkor-SI is a wide angle lens with a moderately fast maximum aperture of f2.5. It was designed for use with landscape, cityscape, interior or full to mid body portraiture, but can be used in any situation requiring slightly wider fields of view. The lens has 9 elements arranged in 7 groups that are multicoated for increased contrast and crispness. The 28mm f2.5 has a minimum aperture of f16 and a minimum focusing distance of 1.5 feet. The design of this lens used rare earth glass elements for their higher refractive index, but these elements are known to yellow over time.
This is an MC mount lens appropriate for the Minolta SRT series and earlier cameras. This will also work with later Minolta cameras (such as the X-700), but without Shutter Priority or Program modes.
