The Paillard Bolex H16 M is a 16mm motion picture film camera. The H16 M is essentially a version of the Bolex H16 without the three lens turret. Instead the H16 M has a provision for a single lens. This makes the camera slightly better suited for using with larger, longer or heavier lenses since the single lens mount on the camera face is sturdier than the three lens turret mount on other H16 cameras.
The H16 M operates off a spring-tensioned motor. At full wind the H16 M can run for 30 seconds at 16fps. Like previous Bolex cameras, the H16 M uses C-mount cine lenses. The camera is capable of variable speed settings ranging from 12 to 64 fps. The H16 M can run either continuously or in single frame exposures. It also has provisions for manual rewind to allow for dissolves or superimposition.
This is the second version of the H16 M, known as the "H16 M-3". Its most notable improvement is a flat base that allows the camera to stand upright on its own.
