The Silvestri SLV is a high-quality, yet compact, technical camera aimed toward architectural work. Designed in Italy by Vincenzo Silvestri and first introduced in the 1980s, the Silvestri SLV underwent many evolutions. Consistent among the iterations is the ability to shift the lens in a rise or fall of 25mm. The mount for the roll film back is able to rotate 360 degrees with click stops every 90 degrees. This means that the rise/fall movement can easily become shift for lateral, as well as vertical, perspective corrections.
This early model SLV features a non-interchangeable Schneider-Kreuznach 47mm f5.6 Super Angulon lens. Mounted to the body of the SLV, this lens provides extreme wide angle coverage ideal for architectural work. This very early version of the SLV lacks a focusing helical and is fixed focus only.
The SLV camera could be found in both 6x7 and 6x9 formats, of which this specimen is the latter. A photographer could view and compose the scene via a ground glass back which could then be swapped for Horseman roll film holders.
