This Canon 35mm f2 SSC is a wide-angle prime lens compatible with Canon manual focus 35mm SLRs. It has a moderately wide angle field of view making it a great lens for street photography, small group portraiture, or even just general use. Additionally, this lens has a faster than normal max aperture of f2 making it excel in low light conditions. It benefits from Canon's SSC (Super Spectra Coatings) for reduced flare and increased image contrast. This lens has a 55mm filter thread.
The first two versions of the 35mm f2 SSC had a concave front element and contained thorium glass elements to go along with the earlier breech-lock lens mount. Canon produced a third version of this lens in breech-lock that had a convex front element and non-thoriated glass elements.
This lens has a Canon FD lens mount and is compatible with all manual focus Canon SLR cameras that use this mount.
This is the second version of the 35mm f2 SSC, the last to have a concave front element. It differs from earlier versions by including a floating element for improved near focusing performance. This specific variant had a short production cycle. It is also distinguished by its black front filter ring
