This Canon 514XL-S is a motion picture camera designed for use with Super 8 film. It is fitted with a super-fast Canon 9-45mm f1.4 Macro lens: ideal for low-light shooting. This camera enables close shooting distances up to 227mm from the film plane if the zoom lever is set at "Macro." Additionally, the 514XL-S included a magnetic track sound system capable of recording sound as film was exposed. Despite the compact nature of this camera, the sound system is fairly sophisticated with audio level control as well as tone select functions. The 514XL-S was a popular hit among Canon's lineup of Super 8 cameras.
