The Nikon Speedlight SB-10 is a standard ISO foot electronic flash that was introduced alongside the Nikon FM and FE. While it will work on many cameras, it is has a couple additional features when paired with the FM or FE. The foot of the flash has a second contact point that works with the flash ready light in the eyepiece of the FE and FM to let the user know when the flash is charged and available for firing - without taking the camera away from their eye. It also will tell the Nikon FE to shift the shutter speed to 1/90 for flash sync and pulse a warning light if the user tries to exceed 1/125th.
The SB-10 can have its exposure calculated manual via a dial on the flash itself, or it has two auto modes for near or mid distances. The flash also rotates through a 180 degree arc over the foot allowing the flash to be aligned horizontally over the camera, offset from the camera or standing vertically.
The SB-10 has a guide number of 25 at ISO 100.
