This Canon 2x-A Extender is an auxiliary lens designed to double the focal length of lenses attached to it. The Canon Extender FD 2x-A was specifically designed for Canon FD lenses that have focal lengths of 300mm or longer, or zoom lenses with 300mm within their zoom range. While doubling the focal length, these extenders also slow down the effective aperture by two stops. So a 300mm f4 mounted on this extender becomes a 600mm f8. A nice benefit to the Canon Extender FD 2x-A is that it does not increase the minimum focusing distance of the master lens mounted to it, so while becoming even more telephoto in their magnification, lenses can still focus as close as they usually do, opening up some creative possibilities for increased close focus work.
This extender uses the Canon FD lens mount and compatible with Canon 35mm SLR manual focus cameras that use this lens mount.
