The Voigtlander Prominent is a 35mm rangefinder camera with interchangeable lenses which use a proprietary lens mount. It was first introduced at Photokina in 1950. The Prominent features a behind-the-lens leaf shutter with top speeds of either 1/400 or 1/500 (depending on the exact model). In 1953 an updated Prominent was released that included an accessory shoe, framelines in the viewfinder for 35, 50 and 100mm lenses and a double-stroke advance lever. Prominents prior to 1953 lacked these features.
