The Minolta XE-7 (also known as the Minolta XE and XE-1 in Japan and Europe respectively) is a solid, 35mm film SLR camera. It was developed in collaboration with Leica and bears some similarities to the Leica R3. The XE-7 uses a Leitz-Copal vertically-travelling electronic shutter capable of speeds between 1/1000 to 4 seconds, plus Bulb. In addition to being able to select speeds manually, the XE-7 has an aperture priority mode where shutter speeds are selected in a stepless fashion (the camera will use any shutter speed necessary for proper exposure even if it is not in a full stop increment). The XE-7 has an ASA range of 12-3200, exposure compensation of +/- 2 stops, mechanical self-timer, depth of field preview and multiple exposure capabilities. It is fully compatible with both Minolta MC and MD mount lenses.
