The Pentax K1000 is a 35mm single lens reflex film camera designed for Pentax K lenses. The K1000 has a fully mechanical shutter capable of shutter speeds from 1 second to 1/1000th second as well as a bulb mode (for long exposures). The camera features a built-in through-the-lens light meter for easy metering. The meter requires one SR44/V76 battery for power. The K1000 can accept both the PK-M and PK-A lens mount variants.

The K1000 is one of the most popular 35mm cameras in the history of photography and considered by some to be the best student camera. The K1000 is simple and straightforward to use.  It is rugged and reliable.  It is infinitely serviceable. While it may not be as feature-rich as later SLRs, the K1000 nonetheless can be a lifetime companion and is capable of making incredible film photographs.
