The Canon EOS 10S is an autofocus film SLR first released in March 1990. The Canon EOS 10S represented the top of Canon's consumer line of film cameras at its introduction and included a more advanced autofocusing system than seen in previous consumer Canon EOS cameras. The new Multi-BASIS AF system in the EOS 10S offered three focus points in the viewfinder for the user to select between. The camera is equipped with two AF modes: a single shot AF designed for stationary subjects and a AI Servo AF mode that excelled at tracking moving subjects. The EOS 10S is capable of switching from Single to Servo AF when the camera detects that still subject matter has begun moving.
The camera has other useful features that make it quite versatile. It has a top shutter speed of 1/4000. There is a built-in flash as well as a hot shoe for external flash. Exposure modes range from full manual to full Program auto exposure. A built-in motor drive offers automatic film loading, advance and rewinding to go along with continuous firing (as fast as 5fps). An LCD panel atop the camera communicates settings and metering info quite clearly. All in all the EOS 10S offers great value for its price and is an easy camera to learn and use.
This camera requires a 2CR5 battery for power.
This camera was also known as the EOS 10 in Europe and the EOS 10QD in Japan.
