The Voigtlander 40mm f1.4 Nokton Classic is a compact lens with a slightly-wider-than-standard 40mm focal length and a very fast f1.4 maximum aperture. It was designed in part as an upgrade on the Leica 40mm f2 Summicron and compares favorably in many ways to that lens. While it has the traditional Leica M lens mount, most Leica cameras do not have great native support for this focal length (meaning no frame lines in the viewfinder). It would be best suited on the Leica CL or Minolta CLE cameras or the Voigtlander Bessa R3M, which all have 40mm framelines in their finders. Nonetheless, it will function fine on any camera using Leica M lenses and is also a great lens for adapting to digital mirrorless. It has a reputation for good optical performance, even wide open, and is able to achieve very shallow depths of field.
