The Olympus F280 is an electronic flash with a guide number of 28 to be used with Olympus 35mm SLR cameras such as the OM series. The F280 offers a few different modes including a Super FP mode, OTF Auto and Manual. The Super FP mode uses a stream of flash bursts to extend flash duration, thereby allowing flash synchronization at all shutter speeds, including those faster than the normal flash sync speed. This mode was only compatible with later Olympus OM cameras such as the OM-3Ti, OM-4Ti and OM-77AF. Likewise, when paired with compatible OM cameras capable of OTF (off the film) flash metering the F280 could take readings off the surface of the film during exposure and regulate exposure times accordingly. With all other OM cameras the F280 offers a straight manual mode.
It uses four AA batteries.
