The Canon EOS Elan is a mid-range, autofocus 35mm SLR camera introduced by Canon in 1991. It has a wide range of features but was the first AF SLR to incorporate the concept of silent operation. By dampening the noise of the film advance and rewind, the EOS Elan produced less than half the noise of previous cameras of this type. It has a built-in flash that is capable of zooming to match the lens focal length. Further flash options include red eye reduction and second curtain sync.
The EOS Elan has the usual array of exposure modes: full Program AE, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority and metered Manual as well as a Depth of Field AE and Program Image Control modes. It can meter via full evaluative, 6.5% partial or center-weighted modes. The focal plane shutter is capable of speeds as fast as 1/4000 and can be set in 1/2 stop increments. The ISO range is 6-6400. It can do up to 9 multiple exposures.
This camera requires one 2CR5 battery for all functions.
