When first released, the Nikon 50mm f1.2 was one of the fastest manual focus lenses in Nikon's library of F-mount lenses. The 50mm f1.2 Nikkor is an update on the previous 55mm f1.2 Nikkor and offers superior image resolution and improved image quality even when used wide open at f1.2. Its fast maximum aperture allows for a brighter viewfinder image, better performance in low light conditions and a razor thin depth of field. This is a prized lens for press or music photographers working in dim conditions without flash. This lens has a 52mm filter thread.
This version of the 50mm f1.2 Nikkor was released in 1981 with the AIS version of the Nikon F lens mount. It is best suited for Nikon SLR cameras that accept AIS lenses but is still backward compatible with Non-AI Nikon SLR cameras.
